DGFT’s Pilot Launch of Bharat Aayat Niryat Lab-Setu (BANYALS)
Issue: To strengthen India’s trade facilitation ecosystem and reduce delays in testing and certification by integrating accredited testing and inspection agencies under a single, paperless digital platform for importers and exporters.
Facts:
- The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) is initiating the pilot phase of the Bharat Aayat Niryat Lab Setu (LabSetu) digital platform.
- The platform aims to digitally connect exporters, importers, and accredited testing and inspection agencies across India through a unified online interface.
- The pilot phase will commence on November 04, 2025. Exporters/importers can submit applications for testing starting November 11, 2025.
- The initial pilot will focus on onboarding laboratories operated by the Tea Board, Coffee Board, and Rubber Board.
Decision:
The DGFT issued a Trade Notice announcing the Pilot Launch of the Bharat Aayat Niryat Lab Setu digital platform, establishing the framework for paperless, single-window testing and certification for import and export commodities.
Key TakeDowns:
- Digital Single Window: LabSetu creates a unified online interface where exporters can seamlessly search, select, apply, track, and obtain digital test reports and certifications across product categories.
- Streamlined Compliance: The system is designed to improve transparency, traceability, and turnaround time for testing and certification, enhancing global trust in India’s quality infrastructure.
- Login Integration: Exporters can use their existing DGFT login credentials (associated with their Import Export Code/IEC) to access the new platform, eliminating the need for new account creation.
- Pilot Phase: During the pilot, exporters may continue using the existing, traditional processes in parallel with the LabSetu system to ensure a smooth transition and allow for feedback-based refinement.
