Goa State Tax Administration Strengthened with Expanded Officer Powers

The Office of the Commissioner of State Tax, Goa, issued Order No. CCT/26-2/2025-26/3919 on November 26, 2025. The purpose of this order is to strengthen the administrative mechanism for the smooth and efficient implementation of the provisions under the Goa Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017.

The order assigns additional statutory functions to designated Proper Officers across Goa under Section 74A of the GST Act. This action is a continuation of previous orders and aims to enhance tax administration.
- Designated Officers and Responsibilities
Powers and responsibilities under sub-sections (1), (2), (3), (5), (6), (7), (9), and (10) of Section 74A have been vested in the following officials within their respective jurisdictions:
Deputy Commissioners of State Tax
State Tax Officers
Assistant State Tax Officers
- Effective Date of the Order
The order comes into effect retrospectively from November 1, 2024, providing both continuity and legal validity to the expanded GST administration powers across the state. The exercise of these assigned powers remains subject to any conditions or restrictions prescribed periodically.
