How to update Aadhaar Card online

Have you received the following message “Aadhaar XXXXXXXX3900 needs Document Update. Use this service at myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in or visit an Aadhaar Centre with Proof of Identity & Address documents. -UIDAI”  ?

Steps to update Aadhaar Card online

  1. Go to website myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
  2. Press Login and Enter you aadhaar card
  3. OTP will be sent to Mobile number registered with Aadhaar card
  4. Once you entered the OTP you needs to click Document update .

You will receive following message 

Objective of Document Update Service
Dear Resident,
You are advised to strengthen your Aadhaar by updating documents in your Aadhaar database by submitting latest Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA) documents. The details in POI/POA documents must match with your details mentioned in your Aadhaar. This shall help you in ensuring continued accuracy of your information in the Aadhaar database.
If you have already updated the documents through any of the Aadhaar Enrolment Centers or through myAadhaar portal, please wait for its acceptance or otherwise. In case of rejection of the request submitted, you may have to update again.
This service is not for updating of your Demographic details (Name, Gender, Date of Birth or Address) in Aadhaar. If you are looking to update any of these details in your Aadhaar, please . [Click here link will be provided ]
A nominal charge of Rs. 25/- to be paid for the services, which is non refundable.
once you will press next then you will get message
1. click Here to upload your Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) Documents.
2. In this step, you will be asked to upload the valid POI/POA documents that contain verified details confirmed in Step 1.
Thereafter you needs to make the payment of Rs 25 to update Aadhaar online

Wheter updation in Aadhaar is mandatory ?

During the past decade, Aadhaar number has emerged as a proof of identity of residents in India. Aadhaar number is being used for availing several government schemes and services.

Residents who had got their Aadhaar issued 10 years ago, and have never updated after that in these years, such Aadhaar number holders are encouraged to get their documents updated.

Some news reports have incorrectly reported on Thursday that it has been made mandatory. It is informed to ignore these reports and social media posts.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has previously issued a press release underlining that it is urging and encouraging residents to keep their documents updated. The recently issued gazette notification also clearly mentions that residents “may” do so on completion of every 10 years.

Keeping the documents in Aadhaar updated helps in ease of living, better service delivery, and enables accurate authentication. UIDAI has always encouraged residents to keep their documents updated, and the gazette notification is another step in that direction.
