The State Bank NRI Family Card is a prepaid card solution designed for the resident Indian family members, dependents, or acquaintances of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs).

 

Eligibility and Purpose

• Target Audience: The card is intended for resident Indians who are family members, dependents, beneficiaries, or acquaintances of an NRI.

• Usage: It allows the cardholder to withdraw cash at ATMs and make purchases via Point-of-Sale (POS) or e-commerce devices.

• Funding: The NRI account holder “tops up” or loads the card with funds for the resident applicant to use.

Card Types and Features

• Personalised vs. Non-Personalised: Applicants can choose between a “Personalised” card (likely featuring the holder’s name) or a “Non-Personalised” version.

   

• Transaction Alerts: Users receive email alerts for all transactions. The email address provided for these alerts can belong to either the resident applicant or the NRI account holder.

   

• Safety Requirement: Upon receiving the card, the applicant must immediately sign the signature panel on the back.

   

Application Requirements

• Personal Information: Applicants must provide their full name, address, mobile number, mother’s maiden name, and date of birth.

   

• Documentation: The applicant must provide one Identity Proof and one Address Proof. Accepted documents include:

   

  • Passport

  • Voter Card

  • Driving Licence

  • NREGA Card

  • Aadhaar Letter / Card

  • PAN Card (Identity proof only)

• Address Verification Alternative: For address proof, a self-declaration is acceptable if followed by positive confirmation such as proof of delivery for a letter or cheque book, or a bank visit/telephone call.

Terms and Conditions

• Bank Discretion: State Bank of India (SBI) reserves the right to accept or reject an application without providing a reason.

   

• Automatic Deduction: Every withdrawal or purchase, along with any applicable service charges, is automatically deducted from the balance available on the card.
