Government has accorded approval for women to join as Short Service Commission Officers in the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force on experimental basis for a period of five years. Three women trainees have volunteered and have been inducted in the Fighter Stream and are undergoing training.

This information was given by Defence Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar in a written reply to Dr. P. Venugopal in Lok Sabha today.
