Xiaomi Watch S5: Passion Mode

Track every wave, cheer, and heartbeat with Passion Mode, then turn the energy of the moment into a highlight card worth sharing.

The Xiaomi Watch S5 introduces a rather quirky and unique feature called Passion Mode (sometimes referred to as “Cheer Tracking”).

Instead of tracking a traditional workout like running or cycling, Passion Mode is specifically designed for sports fans watching live games (whether you are in the stadium or yelling at the TV on your couch).

Here is how it works:

  • Smart Gesture Recognition: The watch utilizes its internal motion sensors (IMU) to automatically recognize physical fan gestures. It can differentiate between clapping, fist-clenching, arm-swinging, and waving.

  • Cheer Energy Tracking: While you are jumping around and supporting your team, the watch translates these movements into trackable metric cards. It records your exact cheer count, tracks your real-time spiking heart rate, and calculates how many calories you burned just by being a passionate fan.

  • Social Media Sharing: Once the match ends, the Mi Fitness app compiles your data and allows you to generate a shareable “Cheer Data Card” with a single tap so you can show your friends exactly how much energy you spent supporting your team.

Passion Mode on the Xiaomi Watch S5 46mm is a specialized tracking feature designed for watching live sports events. It utilizes smart gesture recognition to monitor your physical reactions as a fan and translates those movements into fitness metrics. [1, 2]

How Passion Mode Works

  • Gesture Recognition: The watch automatically detects standard fan motions like clapping, arm waving, fist clenching, and cheering.
  • Cheer Tracking: Once these gestures trigger “Cheer tracking,” the device logs your real-time heart rate and calculates the calories burned simply from rooting for your team.
  • Cheer Count: The software keeps a precise tally of how many times you actively clapped or cheered during the match. [1, 2, 3]

Post-Match Features

  • Data Synthesis: Your physiological response data is compiled inside the companion Mi Fitness App.
  • Highlight Cards: With a single tap, the software generates customized, shareable “cheer data cards” for social media platforms to showcase your team spirit. [1, 3, 4, 5]
