Carrier Link for Google Voice available in 14 additional countries

In June, we launched Carrier Link in 20 countries where Google Voice service was not otherwise available. Today, we are making Carrier Link available in an additional 14 countries (the US, Canada, and much of Europe). Previously, customers in these countries could purchase Google Voice with a first party calling plan provided by Google. Now, customers who want the simplicity and features of Google Voice, but would prefer to use it in combination with a calling plan purchased from a local carrier can do so.

Our partners Southlight Services, Gamma Communications, Tata Communications & Telefonica Global Solutions have collaborated with Google Voice to offer these services in these countries.

Carrier Link allows Workspace customers to easily add phone numbers and calling plans from a certified local carrier, leveraging a pre-configured multi-tenant implementation of SIP Link.

This simplifies the process of setting up a cloud phone system, allowing customers to make and receive calls with payment handled by their local carrier and minimal configuration. Carrier Link is especially helpful for small businesses that want a reliable connection without the hassle of setting up their own hardware.

Google Workspace Updates Blog: Use SIP Link to link phone numbers from local carriers to Google Voice

Google has expanded Carrier Link for Google Voice to 14 additional countries, allowing eligible Google Workspace users across the United States, Canada, and much of Europe to pair Google’s cloud-based business calling with plans from local telecom operators. [1, 2]

This update builds upon the initial June 2026 launch, which brought Carrier Link to 20 countries where standard Google Voice calling plans were not directly available. Previously, businesses in these newly added 14 markets could only use first-party calling plans provided directly by Google. Now, they have the flexibility to choose third-party local carrier billing and numbers. [1, 2, 3]

Core Benefits & Technology

Simplified Deployment: The service utilizes a pre-configured, multi-tenant implementation of SIP Link. This allows small businesses and enterprises to deploy a cloud phone system with minimal configuration and without purchasing dedicated hardware. [1]
Unified Billing: Customers can leverage the features of Google Voice while keeping their existing local operator relationships, with call payments handled directly by their local carrier. [1, 2]
Telecom Partnerships: Google is rolling out this expansion in collaboration with four certified service partners: Gamma Communications, Southlight Services, Tata Communications, and Telefónica Global Solutions. [1, 2]

Subscription Compatibility

According to the Google Workspace Admin Help, plan compatibility dictates how numbers are linked: [1]

Voice Starter: Compatible with Google calling plans and Carrier Link.
Voice Standard & Premier: Required if you intend to use standard, custom SIP Link deployments in these 14 markets. [1]
