Udyam Registration ! Complete Step by Step Process
Prerequisites & Information Needed
- Aadhaar Number: Belonging to the proprietor, managing partner, Karta, or authorised signatory.
- PAN Card: Of the entrepreneur or the business entity.
- Business Details: Name, type of organisation, office address, and plant location(s).
- Bank Information: Bank account number and IFSC code.
- Operational Metrics: Date of commencement, business activity, National Industrial Classification (NIC) codes, and number of employees.
Here is the document required before registration of Udyam
✔ Aadhaar number shall be required for Udyam Registration.
✔ The Aadhaar number shall be of the proprietor in the case of a proprietorship firm, of the managing partner in the case of a partnership firm and of a karta in the case of a Hindu Undivided Family (HUF).
✔ In case of a Company or a Limited Liability Partnership or a Cooperative Society or a Society or a Trust, the organisation or its authorised signatory shall provide its GSTIN(As per applicablity of CGST Act 2017 and as notified by the ministry of MSME vide S.O. 1055(E) dated 05th March 2021) and PAN along with its Aadhaar number.
Step-by-Step Registration Process
1. Initial Access & Aadhaar Verification
- Visit the official Udyam Registration Portal.
- Click on “For New Entrepreneurs who are not Registered yet as MSME”.
- Enter your Aadhaar Number and your name exactly as listed on the Aadhaar card.
- Click “Validate & Generate OTP”.
- Enter the OTP received on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number and click “Validate”.
2. PAN and Organisation Verification
- Select your “Type of Organisation” (e.g., Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, Private Limited).
- Enter the business PAN card number and click “Validate”.
- Specify if you have filed the previous year’s ITR and whether you hold a GSTIN.
3. Enterprise Profile Filing
- Input the Name of the Enterprise and choose your business location units.
- Provide the Official Address of the plant, unit, or corporate office.
- Specify the Date of Incorporation and the Date of Commencement of business.
- Enter the enterprise’s active Bank Account Number and IFSC Code.
4. Activity and Staffing Information
- Select your primary business activity: Manufacturing or Services.
- Search and choose the correct 2, 4, and 5-digit NIC Codes matching your business operations.
- Fill in the total Number of Employees split by gender.
5. Financial Disclosures & Final Submission
- Declare your Investment in Plant & Machinery and your Annual Turnover figures.
- Check the boxes for opting into linked government portals if desired (e.g., GeM, TReDS).
- Agree to the self-declaration text, then click “Submit and Get Final OTP”.
- Enter the closing OTP received on your phone and submit the form finally.
Downloading Your Udyam Certificate
- Navigate back to the official site and tap the “Print/Verify” tab.
- Select the “Print Udyam Certificate” route.
- Enter your new URN alongside your registered mobile number.
- Authenticate using the system-generated OTP.
- View, download, or print your dynamically QR-coded Udyam e-Certificate.
