Nano Banana Pro: Google’s New AI Image Wizard Arrives in Google Slides

Google has officially introduced its latest and most advanced image generation model, Nano Banana Pro (built on the Gemini 3 Pro architecture), to Google Slides. As demonstrated in the recent Google Workspace update, this tool is designed to transform how users create presentations by integrating professional-grade AI image generation and editing capabilities directly into the slide editor.

What is Nano Banana Pro?

Nano Banana Pro—internally codenamed “Nano Banana” but officially powered by Gemini 3 Pro Image—is Google’s state-of-the-art visual model. It represents a significant leap forward from previous iterations (like Gemini 2.5 Flash), specifically addressing common pain points in AI image generation such as garbled text, inconsistent characters, and lack of fine-grained control.

Key Features in Google Slides

The integration of Nano Banana Pro into Google Slides brings two primary capabilities that aim to replace stock photos and external design tools:

  • “Help Me Visualize”: Users can now generate highly detailed, custom images and infographics directly within a slide. Because the model is grounded in Google Search, it can pull real-world information to create accurate diagrams and educational visuals rather than just artistic interpretations.

  • “Beautify This Slide”: This feature analyzes the messy content of an existing slide—text, bullet points, and rough ideas—and automatically redesigns it into a professional, visually cohesive layout with generated visuals that match the presentation’s theme.

Why It’s a “Pro” Upgrade

Nano Banana Pro distinguishes itself from standard AI image generators with several professional-grade features:

  • Advanced Text Rendering: Unlike older models that struggled with spelling, Nano Banana Pro can render crisp, legible text in multiple languages, making it ideal for creating posters, charts, and title slides.

  • Character & Style Consistency: The model can maintain the same character or visual style across multiple images, ensuring that a presentation looks uniform rather than like a patchwork of random AI art.

  • Photographic Controls: Users can direct the AI like a camera crew, specifying lighting (e.g., “golden hour”), camera angles (e.g., “low angle”), and depth of field to get the exact look they need.

Availability

Nano Banana Pro is currently rolling out to Google Workspace customers (including Business, Enterprise, and Education tiers) and is also available in the Gemini App (with usage limits for free users) and NotebookLM.

This update signals Google’s move from “fun” AI generation to “functional,” professional tools, allowing anyone to design studio-quality slides without leaving their browser.
