Total Collections: India’s gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue for December 2025 reached ₹1,74,550 crore, marking a year-on-year growth of 6.1%.
Impact of Reforms: The subdued growth rate is attributed to significant tax rate cuts across various sectors that came into effect on September 22, 2025, as part of GST Reforms 2.0.
Domestic vs. Import Revenue:
Domestic Revenue: Collections from domestic transactions stood at ₹1,22,574 crore, showing a slight increase from ₹1,21,118 crore in the previous year.
Import Revenue: Revenue from the import of goods saw a robust growth of 19.7%, reaching ₹51,977 crore.
Net Revenue: After accounting for refunds, the net GST revenue for the month was ₹1,45,570 crore, reflecting a growth of 2.2% year-on-year.
Cumulative Performance: The total GST collection for the current financial year (April-December 2025) stands at ₹16,50,039 crore, an 8.6% increase compared to the same period last year.
Structural Changes: The data reflects the ongoing transition towards a simplified two-slab tax structure (5% and 18%) intended to boost economic activity and reduce the burden on households.
