2. Account Holder Types & Facilities

  • Holder Categories: Accounts can be opened by a self-applicant, as a joint account (Joint A: All or Survivor, Joint B: Either or Survivor), as a minor through a guardian, or for a person of unsound mind through a guardian.

  • Additional Facilities (For Savings Accounts): Applicants can opt for a Cheque Book, an ATM Card, Mobile Banking, Internet Banking, an IPPB (India Post Payments Bank) Account link, Aadhaar Seeding, or government insurance/pension schemes like PMSBY, PMJJBY, and APY.

3. Mandatory Requirements & KYC Details

  • Formatting: The form must be filled strictly using CAPITAL LETTERS.

  • Documentation: Self-attested copies of identity and address proofs are required. If an Aadhaar Card or enrolment proof is unavailable, acceptable alternative documents include a Passport, Driving License, Voter ID, MGNREGA Job Card, or National Population Register letter.

  • Specific Scheme Requirements: * A Birth Certificate is mandatory for a Sukanya Samriddhi Account (SSA).

    • Proof of age (document number, issue date, and issuing authority) must be provided for a Senior Citizen Savings Scheme (SCSS) account.

    • A PAN Number is requested along with Aadhaar details.

4. Key Declarations

  • Residency: Applicants must declare that they/the minor are resident citizens of India.

  • Account Ceilings: * SSA & PPF: Applicants must declare they do not hold any other SSA or PPF account in their name or the minor’s name anywhere else in the country, and that they will abide by the statutory maximum deposit limits.

    • MIS & SCSS: Existing account holders must disclose all active MIS/SCSS accounts, deposit amounts, and account numbers held across any Post Office or Bank.

5. Nomination & Witnesses

  • The applicant can nominate up to 4 individuals, specifying their entitlement share.

  • If a nominee is a minor, a separate legal guardian must be designated to receive funds in the event of the account holder’s death during the nominee’s minority.

  • If the applicant is illiterate, two witnesses must sign and verify the application.
