Share chats, canvases, and generated media from the Gemini app securely via Google Drive
We are introducing the ability for Workspace users on the web to share snapshots of their chats, canvases, and generated media in the Gemini app. Because this feature is powered by the same underlying technology as Google Drive, it uses the familiar, consistent sharing interface you already rely on for Google Docs and other files. You can still choose to allow conversation sharing via link.
Getting started
- Admins: This feature will be ON by default and can be managed via a new Admin console setting. Additionally, sharing is governed by your organization’s existing Drive sharing policies. If Drive content is set to be shareable outside the organization, your Gemini assets will be as well. Visit the Help Center to learn more.
- End users: If enabled by your admin, you can share your Gemini conversations, canvases, and media from the web interface using the standard Drive sharing menu.
Rollout pace
- Admin controls
- Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains: Full rollout (1–3 days for feature visibility) starting on May 28, 2026
- End-user visibility

- Google Docs: Click the Share & export icon at the bottom of a response in the Gemini app and select Export to Docs. This creates a private document in your Drive, which you can then share by opening the file and clicking the Share button.
- Gmail: Use Share & export > Draft in Gmail to create an email containing the conversation. You can send it to yourself or others directly from your Gmail.
- Public Links: For quick sharing without Google Drive permissions, click Share > Share public link at the bottom of a response to generate a link you can send to others. [6, 7]
- Download the generated image locally from the Gemini app.
- Upload the image to a folder in
Google Drive
- Right-click the file (or tap the three dots) and select Share. Enter the email addresses of the people you want to grant access, or update the “General access” settings to allow anyone with the link to view it.
- Permissions: You control who can view, comment, or edit the shared documents or Drive folders. Always verify access levels (Viewer, Commenter, or Editor) in the Google Drive share menu before granting access.
- Revoking Access: You can remove access at any time by going back into the sharing settings for the specific document or folder, changing the access back to restricted, or removing specific users from the access list. [8, 9, 10]
