NOTIFICATION
Dhanbad, the 1st July, 2026
G.S.R. 571(E).— In exercise of the powers conferred on me under sub-rule (1) of rule 131 of the Occupational
Safety, Health and Working Conditions (Central) Rules, 2026, I, Ujjwal Tah, Chief Inspector-cum-Facilitator of Mines,
also designated as the Director General of Mines Safety, hereby, specify the apparatus and equipment to be provided
and maintained at rescue stations and Rescue Room for immediate use, as follows:
Scope: These standards specify the minimum number of apparatus and equipment to be provided and maintained at
Rescue Station and Rescue Room for immediate use, as required under Rule 131(1) of the Occupational Safety, Health
and Working Conditions (Central) Rules, 2026.
Applicability: These standards shall be applicable to all rescue stations or Rescue Room established and maintained
for serving any below ground mine or a group of below ground mines.
Compliance Requirement:
A. Apparatus and equipment to be provided and maintained at a Rescue Station
1.0 BREATHING APPARATUS- Nos.
1.1 Two-hours self-contained breathing apparatus – 54(fifty-four)
1.2 Absorbent charges – 2,000(two thousand)
1.3 Compressed air breathing apparatus- 18 (eighteen)
1.4 Universal testing machine -03 (Three)
2.0 RESUSCITATING APPARATUS
2.1 Resuscitating Apparatus – 12(twelve)
2.2 Spare cylinders – 12(twelve)
2.3 Tester for resuscitating apparatus– 03 (three)

capacity apparatus and equipment as may be considered necessary.
