How to download income Tax Challan Receipt From Income Tax Portal

To download your income tax challan receipt, you should primarily use the official Income Tax e-Filing Portal. Depending on whether you have a PAN or TAN, follow the steps below:

For Individuals (PAN Holders)

  1. Log in: Access the Income Tax e-Filing Portal using your PAN and password.
  3. Navigate to e-Pay Tax: On the dashboard, click on e-File > e-Pay Tax.
  4. Payment History: Select the Payment History tab to see a list of your past successful transactions.
  5. Download: Locate the specific payment and click Download under the Actions column to save your receipt.

For Tax Deductors (TAN Holders)

  1. Log in: Log in to the e-Filing Portal using your TAN.
  2. Access CSI File: Go to e-File > e-Pay Tax and look for the Challan Status Inquiry (CSI) File tab.
  3. Filter and Download: Enter the Payment Date range (up to 24 months) and click Download Challan File. [2, 7, 8]

Alternative: Using TIN-NSDL (OLTAS)

If you made your payment via the older TIN-NSDL system, you can track and view details (though not always a full formal receipt download) using the Challan Status Inquiry feature:
  • CIN Based View: Requires BSR Code, Date of Deposit, and Challan Serial Number.
  • TAN Based View: Enter your TAN and a date range for a specific financial year to view payment details.
Note: For payments made before July 1, 2022, you may not be able to download the CSI file from the current e-Filing portal and should rely on bank records or older downloads.
