1. Major Update: Change in Insurer
- New Insurance Partner: The insurer has officially changed from The New India Assurance Company Limited to The Oriental Insurance Company Limited (p. 1).
2. Plan Structure & Sum Insured
- Covered Events: Provides financial compensation for Accidental Death and Permanent Total Disability (PTD) resulting from non-intentional accidents (pp. 1, 9).
- Old PMJDY Cards: Accounts opened up to 28th August 2018 qualify for a sum insured of ₹1 Lakh (p. 9).
- New PMJDY Cards: Accounts opened from 28th August 2018 onwards qualify for an enhanced sum insured of ₹2 Lakhs (p. 9).
- Global Boundaries: Features worldwide coverage with claim compensation paid out in Indian Rupees (p. 9).
- Age Limit: Open to all eligible cardholders above 5 years of age (p. 9).
3. Mandatory Transaction Criteria
- The 90-Day Window: Cardholders must perform at least one successful financial or non-financial transaction within 90 days prior to the date of the accident (including the accident date itself) (pp. 1, 9).
- Eligible Channels: Valid via ATMs, Micro ATMs, POS terminals, E-commerce platforms, or bank Business Correspondents (pp. 1-2).
- Strict Exclusion: UPI transactions are explicitly excluded and do not qualify as a valid transaction for insurance eligibility (p. 2).
- New Card Exception: Payout remains valid if the accident occurs within the first 90 days of card issuance, bypassing the transaction rule (p. 11).
4. Claim Timelines & Hard-Copy Submission
- Claim Intimation: Must be reported via email to
rupay@orientalinsurance.co.inwithin 90 days from the date of the accident (p. 4). - Critical Medical Exception: Intimations beyond 90 days are accepted if the cardholder was delayed due to critical hospitalisation (p. 4).
- Document Mailing Deadline: Complete document sets must be physically submitted by post or courier within 60 days from the intimation date (p. 5). Scanned images via email are not accepted (p. 5).
- Physical Mailing Address: Sent to: Claim Service Centre Delhi RO 2, The Oriental Insurance Company Ltd., Non Motor Section, 4th Floor, Oriental House, Delhi Gate Metro Station Gate No. 3, A-25/27, Asaf Ali Road, New Delhi – 110002 (p. 4).
- Settlement Window: Eligible claims are paid via NEFT within 10 working days from receiving the complete document set (pp. 5, 7).
5. Essential Documentation Checklist
- Bank Declaration: Official Annexure D on bank letterhead confirming the 16-digit card number and a verified 90-day transaction log (pp. 10, 18).
- Accidental Death Claims: Duly signed claim form, certified Death Certificate, FIR/Police report, Post Mortem report, and Nominee Aadhaar/banking details (pp. 7, 10).
- Disability Claims: Discharge card confirming case history, medical certificate specifying the precise duration and percentage of disability, and original investigation reports (pp. 8, 13).
