3D bar chart imported into Google Sheets

Google Sheets now fully supports the import of 3D bar charts. Previously, when users imported files containing 3D bar charts into Sheets, they would be displayed as 2D bar charts. With this update, importing these types of files, including from Microsoft Excel, will yield a more seamless experience.

End users: Visit the Help Center to learn more about adding and editing a chart in Google Sheets.

Google Sheets fully supports importing files that contain 3D bar charts. Previously, importing an external spreadsheet (like a Microsoft Excel file) with 3D elements would flatten the graphics into a 2D format. How to Import an Excel File with 3D Bar Charts

To bring an existing spreadsheet with 3D graphs into Google Sheets, use these steps:

Open a new or existing spreadsheet in Google Sheets.
Click File in the top menu and select Import.
Choose the Upload tab and select the .xlsx or spreadsheet file containing your 3D bar chart.
Select your preferred import location (e.g., Replace spreadsheet or Insert new sheet(s)).
Click Import data. Your file will load, and your 3D bar charts will automatically render in 3D. [1, 3, 4, 5, 6]

Alternative: Convert a 2D Chart into 3D Directly in Sheets

If you already have data or a flat 2D chart inside Google Sheets, you can toggle it to 3D manually using the editor: [7, 8]

Open the Chart Editor: Double-click on your existing chart, or click the three dots in the top-right corner of the chart and select Edit chart. [9]
Enable the 3D Layout:
1. In the right-hand panel, click the Customize tab.
2. Open the Chart style dropdown menu.
3. Check the box labeled 3D. Your chart will instantly convert into a three-dimensional visual. [7, 10, 11]
