The exports of Handicrafts has grown by 10% in rupee terms, from Rs. 13,460 crore during April-December 2014 to Rs. 14,782 crore during April-December 2015. In dollar terms, the value of exports has increased by 3%, from US$ 2,215 million during April-December 2014 to US$ 2,282 million during April-December 2015. The break-up is given below:

Handicrafts Exhibition cum sale ‘SHRESTHKRITI’ held

In an endeavor to promote Indian Handicraft products and to showcase the rich heritage of India, ‘SHRESTHKRITI’, an Exhibition cum Sale of exclusive handcrafted creations by National Awardees was organized by Central Cottage Industries Corporation of India (CCIC) in its showroom at Janpath, New Delhi from 19th January, 2016 to 31st January, 2016. The exhibition was inaugurated by Smt. Rashmi Verma, Secretary (Textiles). The highlight of the exhibition was the launch of “COTTAGE PREMIUM”- an exquisite collection of highly exclusive and very limited collection of handicraft and handloom products for the connoisseur of crafts.

Digital and Retail Marketing of Handlooms of India

As per the e-commerce policy framework for promotion of e-marketing of handloom products, Office of Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles has engaged three e-commerce entities namely (i) M/s. Craftsvilla Handicrafts Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai; (ii) M/s. Pegarse Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore and (iii) M/s. Gocoop Solution & Services Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore in the month of January, 2015. The area of operation will be Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Rajasthan.

A policy framework under Brand India Handloom Partnership Framework has been made to enter into partnership with leading handloom retail stores as well. Under this framework, handloom retail stores shall partner with Office of Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles in selling India Handloom brand products. Thirteen retail stores in ten cities have been shortlisted for this initiative so far.

56TH IIGF a Big Success

The 56th India International Garment Fair was held from January 20 – 22, 2016 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Around 807 foreign buyers and 720 buying agencies participated in the Fair.

5th edition of Technotex in Mumbai from April 21 – 23, 2016

The curtain raiser event of Technotex 2016, India’s premier show on technical textiles, was held on 29th January, 2016. At the event, Union Textiles Minister Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar also released the Baseline survey on Technical Textiles and BIS Standards on technical textiles.
