Home Quarantine guidelines for COVID 19 by UT Chandigarh

Whereas it has been made to appear to me that one positive case of Corona Virus has been reported today in Chandigarh. There is imminent risk of spread of COVID-19 in the Union Territory of Chandigarh. If suitable measures to prevent the same are not taken it can pose grave danger to the human life and safety and injury to the public property

And whereas, I, Mandip Singh Brar, LAS. District Magistrate U.T. Chandigarh am of the opinion that immediate steps are required to check the spread of COVID-19. Provision has been made for Home Quarantine of specified persons to prevent further spread of COVID19.

Now, therefore, I. Mandip Singh Brar, L.A.S. District Magistrate, U.T. Chandigarh in exercise of powers vested with me under Section 144 of Cr.Pc. do hereby order as an emergency measure that the guidelines of home quarantine shall be strictly followed. Sh. Anil Garg, P.C.S. Additional Commissioner, Municipal Commissioner has been appointed as Nodal Officer by Worthy Principal Secretary, Health for contact tracing and enforcing home quarantine and a police team has been placed at his disposal to assist him. A stamp would be marked on the back of right hand (back of palm) along with relevant date considering 14 days quarantine period. The List of all such persons in home quarantine will be published on the website (www.chd.gov.in) by the LT. Department of Chandigarh Administration on providing the list by the Nodal Officer. An apprehension has been raised that some people will not adhere to the Home Quarantine, Thereby endangering public safety. Any breach of this order would invite action under section 188 of Indian Penal Code.

It is reiterated that there is no cause of panic as this is a measure of abundant precaution. Further. The persons to be placed under Home quarantine are neither tested positive for COVID 19 nor high risk. Home quarantine is a precautionary measure against the spread of the disease.

In view of the emergent nature of the order, it is being issued Ex-parte and is addressed to the public in general

This order shall come into force with effect from 2.00 PM on 19.03.2020 and shall be effective for a period of sixty days up to 2.00 PM on 18.05.2020

This order shall be promulgated by affixing copy thereof at the Notice Boards of the office of the District Magistrate. Chandigarh and publication in the newspapers having circulation in the area, through the office of the D.P.R.. Chandigarh
