Andhra Pradesh Net GST Collections Up 8.77% in October

Issue: To report on the revenue performance of Andhra Pradesh’s Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections in October 2025, particularly noting its growth rate despite the recent GST rate rationalization (GST 2.0) that reduced taxes on many goods.

Facts:

  • The GST rate reduction on several goods (GST 2.0) took effect on September 22, 2025.
  • The revenue collected in October 2025 relates to business transactions conducted in September 2025.
  • The GST Compensation Cess has also been withdrawn on all liable items except tobacco and tobacco products.

Decision:

The net Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections of Andhra Pradesh increased by 8.77% to reach ₹3,021 crore in October 2025 compared to the same month last year.

Key TakeDowns:

  • Sustained Growth: Gross GST collections for October 2025 reached ₹3,490 crore, marking the third highest ever for the month of October since GST was implemented in 2017.
  • Growth Drivers: The sustained revenue growth is attributed to increased consumption driven by rate reductions, strategic policy initiatives, and enhanced compliance mechanisms.
  • SGST Performance: The State GST (SGST) collections alone reached ₹1,247 crore, marking an impressive 6.20% increase over the same month in 2024, reflecting improved consumption patterns, effective tax administration, and strengthened enforcement.
  • Consistent Momentum: This marks the seventh consecutive month (April-October 2025) that net GST collections have exceeded those of the same months in the previous financial year, indicating steady and sustained growth in economic activity in the state.
