Create fully native and editable presentations with Gemini in Google Slides

You can now create a full, multi-slide presentation using Gemini in Google Slides. With a single prompt, you can ground the presentation in existing content from Google Drive, match the style of another presentation, and build fully editable slides, allowing you to make any necessary adjustments. Gemini will also suggest relevant files, emails, and chats that you can choose to add to enrich your presentation.

Try the following to create more relevant, compelling presentations in less time:

  • Add a prompt: In the Slides side panel, add a prompt to generate a presentation.
  • Ground it in your content: Add as many reference files directly from Drive as you need to provide context.
  • Stay on-brand: Attach an existing deck to use as a style reference to ensure your presentation matches your desired look and feel.
  • Refine the plan for your presentation: Answer any follow-up questions to refine the presentation’s tone, style, content, or audience. You will also have the chance to edit or approve the presentation outline before the actual slides are created.

Note: At launch, this feature will be supported in English only.

Create fully native and editable presentations with Gemini in Google Slides

You can now use Gemini directly inside Google Slides or the Gemini app to generate fully native, multi-slide presentations. Every element—including text boxes, shapes, and layouts—is built as a native component, allowing you to edit, format, and customize every slide after it is created. [1, 2, 3, 4]
How to Create Presentations in Google Slides
    1. Open the Side Panel: Open a new or existing presentation in Google Slides and click the Ask Gemini icon in the top right corner. [1, 2]
    2. Add a Prompt: Enter a descriptive prompt (e.g., “Create a 10-slide presentation on Q2 performance”), and attach reference documents directly from Google Drive using the @ symbol for deep content grounding. [1, 2]
    3. Stay On-Brand: You can also attach an existing presentation to use as a style reference, ensuring Gemini matches your brand’s look and feel. [1]
    4. Refine and Generate: Review the proposed outline, answer any follow-up questions for refinement, and approve the plan to let Gemini build your native, multi-slide deck. [1, 2]

How to Create Presentations via Gemini Canvas
    1. Access the Tool: Go to the Gemini App and select Canvas in the toolbar. [1]
    2. Draft the Deck: Enter your detailed prompt and upload any source materials. Gemini will draft a structured presentation including themes and images. [, 2]
    3. Export to Slides: Once you are satisfied with the Canvas preview, click the Export to Slides button. Gemini will convert the presentation into a 100% native Google Slides file in your Drive. [1]

Post-Creation Editing Features
Once your native presentation is generated, you can use built-in Google Slides features: [1, 2, 3]
    • Edit Elements: Click on any text, title, shape, or layout to resize, reformat, or delete it.
    • Enhance Slides: Use the Gemini side panel to request new slides, generate specific images, or summarize existing content. [1, 2, 4]
