GST Cash ledger not updating/ Bank challan status not successful

Q.1 Tax payer has cleared his liability however amount is not reflecting in cash ledger.

A.1 The possible scenarios:
(i) Amount not deducted from the account of the taxpayer
(ii) Amount deducted from the taxpayer’s account but CIN not communicated to GSTN by the Bank
(iii) Mismatch of transaction data though reflected in the e-scroll, received from RBI
(iv) Change in the mode of payment at bank level
Taxpayer has to wait for 24 hrs and if not updated, he can raise grievance through GST PMT 07. In case (iv), taxpayer may get amount back from the remitting bank.

Q.2 Challan created and paid through bank but status of the challan still shows -‘payment initiated’ on portal and ‘not successful’ even after 48 hours.
