Gemini Intelligence, introduced at The Android Show in May 2026, is a major upgrade. It transforms Android into a proactive “intelligence system”. The focus is on automating complex, multi-step tasks across apps, offering deeper, context-aware assistance while prioritizing user privacy. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Core Capabilities & Features
- Cross-App Automation: Gemini can manage complex workflows. It can search Gmail for a syllabus, identify required books, and add them to a shopping cart without manual input.
- Visual Contextual Actions: Users can long-press the power button. Gemini will analyze screen content (like a grocery list) to build a shopping cart. It can also analyze a photo of a flyer to book a similar tour on Expedia.
- Smarter Autofill: Using personal context, Gemini can fill out long, complex forms across apps with a single tap.
- Rambler for Voice Typing: This new Gboard feature refines spoken text into concise, polished, and grammatically correct messages. It removes filler words (“um,” “like”) and fixes grammatical errors. It also supports multiple languages, such as Hindi and English combined.
- Create My Widget: Users can generate custom home screen widgets using natural language prompts, such as “show only wind speed and rain”.
- Gemini in Chrome: Starting in late June 2026, it will offer AI-powered browsing to summarize articles, compare content, and perform tasks like booking appointments or parking spots. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Availability & Security
- Rollout: Features begin rolling out this summer on the Samsung Galaxy S26 and Google Pixel 10 series. Broader availability across Android phones, watches, and cars is planned for later in 2026.
- Privacy: Gemini only acts on specific, user-initiated commands and stops once a task is complete.
- Googlebook: Google introduced a new laptop category designed for this system. It features a “Magic Pointer” for context-sensitive suggestions. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
This update allows Gemini to handle routine, time-consuming tasks. This helps users focus on more important actions, acting as a personal assistant.
