Sign in quickly and securely with passkeys.
This Cybersecurity Awareness Month, make signing in easier and more secure with passkeys.
Passkeys let you sign in to apps or sites the same way you unlock your device: with a fingerprint, face scan, or device PIN code, making them easier and more secure than passwords. (Biometric data like your fingerprint or face scan stays on your device and is never shared with Google.) And, unlike passwords, passkeys are designed to be resistant to common online attacks like phishing.
Ready to make the switch? To set up a passkey for your Google Account, visit g.co/passkeys, click “Create a passkey,” and follow the prompts.
- Simpler and Faster: You can log into your accounts the exact same way you unlock your phone or laptop. [1]
- Stronger Security: Because passkeys use unique cryptographic keys stored locally on your device, they cannot be guessed, written down, or leaked in a corporate data breach. [1, 2, 3]
- Phishing Resistant: A passkey is tied directly to the specific website or app it was created for. Even if you accidentally click a fake link, your device will recognize the fraudulent site and refuse to share the login token. [1]
- Private: Your biometric data (fingerprint or face scan) stays securely on your personal hardware and is never shared with external servers or third parties. [1, 2]
- Open your browser and navigate directly to the Google Account Passkeys Setup page.
- Sign in using your existing Google password if prompted.
- Click the “Create a passkey” button.
- Follow your device’s built-in prompts to confirm your identity using your face scan, fingerprint reader, or system PIN code. [1, 2, 3]
