Enjoy new ways to create, search and stream on Google TV

Google TV is undergoing a significant transformation in 2026, shifting from a passive streaming box into an interactive creative hub. The latest updates, powered by Gemini, introduce several new ways to interact with your screen.

1. Create: AI-Powered Art & Video

Your TV is now a creative canvas. Through the new Gemini tab, you can access generative AI tools directly on the big screen:

• Nano Banana (Image Generation): Use voice prompts to create entirely new images or remix existing family photos. For example, you can ask Gemini to “Make my dad wear a ridiculous outfit” to instantly transform a photo into something humorous for the whole room to see.

   

• Veo (Video Generation): You can now generate short AI video clips or animate your static photos. Prompts like “Make my grandfather moonwalk in space” can bring your imagination to life in seconds.

  • Note: These creative features are rolling out first on Gemini-enabled TCL Google TVs in the U.S.

2. Search: Smarter Google Photos Integration

Searching for memories is now conversational rather than manual:

• Voice Search: You can ask Gemini to find specific moments, such as “Show me photos from our beach vacation last year.” It will pull up a browsable, full-screen results page.

   

• Remix & Style: Once you find a photo, the Remix button allows you to apply artistic styles like watercolor, oil painting, or 3D animation.

   

• Dynamic Slideshows: You can turn any album into a collage-style dynamic slideshow to serve as a high-tech digital frame when the TV is idle.

3. Stream: Shorts and Deep Dives

The way you consume content is becoming more “snackable” and educational:

• YouTube Shorts Row: A new “Short videos for you” row is coming to the home screen (rolling out in the U.S. this summer), bringing the mobile scrolling experience to the living room.

• Gemini Deep Dives: Instead of just watching, you can ask for a “Deep Dive” into topics like health, technology, or economics. Gemini provides a narrated, visual breakdown with interactive follow-up questions.

   

• Sports Briefs: Catch up on in-season leagues (NBA, NHL, MLB, etc.) with narrated overviews of highlights and player news directly in the Gemini tab.

How to get started:

• To Create: Navigate to the Gemini tab at the top of your Home screen and select “Create.”

• To Learn: Visit the Gemini tab and select “Learn” or ask a question and click “Dive deeper.”

• For Screensavers: Go to Quick Settings > Screensaver and select Google Photos as your source.
