Gemini Spark now integrates with Chrome

Gemini Spark now has new Chrome web browsing capabilities, and more users around the world have access.
Today, we are expanding Gemini Spark to more users around the world, and adding a new feature to help you handle complex web errands. Here is a look at what is new:
Handle web errands with Chrome auto browse
We’re taking Spark’s web browsing capabilities even further by integrating directly with Chrome. Now, with your permission, Spark can use your logged-in accounts and saved passwords to handle tedious web errands, like scheduling viewings for apartments you’ve saved or researching flight options and starting the booking process. This is all done while protecting against threats like prompt injection and keeping you in the loop on sensitive actions, such as payments, by handing the task back to you. These capabilities are initially rolling out in the U.S. with plans to expand to additional regions in the future.
Expanding access to more users around the world
We’re rolling out access for Google AI Pro subscribers in over 160 additional countries starting today, so more people can access Spark to start automating their daily tasks.
Key Capabilities of Chrome Auto Browse
- Active Browser Control: Unlike previous remote browser iterations, Spark now interacts directly inside your local Chrome window. [2, 3]
- Credential Access: With your explicit permission, Spark can utilize your logged-in web sessions and saved Chrome passwords to navigate behind login walls. [3, 5]
- Task Automation: It handles tedious web errands autonomously. Examples include pulling saved listings to schedule apartment viewings or researching and filling out information to initiate flight bookings. [5, 6]
- Safety Hand-Off: To protect against malicious web exploits (like indirect prompt injections), Spark displays a visible marker while active. It will automatically halt and hand the control back to you for any sensitive final actions, such as making payments. [3, 5, 7]
Availability and Rollout
- Geographics: The Chrome auto browse integration is initially rolling out exclusively to users in the United States.
- Subscription Tiers: It is accessible to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.
- Global Spark Expansion: While the Chrome integration is regionalized at launch, Google simultaneously expanded base access to the Gemini Spark agent to over 160 additional countries. [4, 5, 7, 8, 9]
